
KANSAS CITY - Kansas Governor Laura Kelly, in accordance with Executive Order #20-30, has directed flags throughout the State of Kansas to be flown at half-staff from sunup to sundown on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in honor of Butler County paramedic Justin Lauppe, who died in the line of duty last week.
“For 14 years, Justin Lauppe was dedicated to serving his community and providing essential care to his fellow Kansans in the greatest need,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “We owe him a debt of gratitude for his selfless sacrifices. My deepest condolences go out to his loved ones.”
Lauppe was on an emergency call when he went into cardiac arrest. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and died.
The memorial service for Lauppe is also on Thursday at Park City Arena, 8151 N. Hartman Arena Dr.; the public viewing will be from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., when the service is set to begin.
