KANSAS CITY - Two Missouri poll workers died when their car was swept away by floodwaters.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says it happened around 4:00 Tuesday morning in Wright County, in the southeast portion of the state. Emergency crews began rescuing people who were caught in the fast-moving water.

Two people in one car were able to escape by swimming to land. A couple in the other car, a 70-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman from Wright County, were found dead several hours later, not in their car. First responders used a drone to find them.

The victims have not yet been identified.
