KANSAS CITY - As the special election approaches in less than three weeks, voters are taking their final chances to learn about the proposed 1% sales tax for Wichita.

On Wednesday evening, voters attended a forum to learn about the proposal that looks to raise $850 million for improvements in Wichita. Some of the biggest questions centered around funding for performance arts venues, and trust in the city to use the funds properly.

The forum was held at the Carl G. Brewer community center at McAdams Park off of 16th Street in N. Wichita.

The forum featured a presentation on the sales-tax proposal by new Wichita City Manager Dennis Marstall; it also featured speakers both for and against the proposal.

Among those speaking in support was former Wichita city council-member Brandon Johnson.

The special election takes place on Tuesday, March 3.
