KANSAS CITY — Governor Laura Kelly has issued a State of Disaster Emergency for Kansas due to slowing fuel deliveries across the state.

The order from the Governor temporarily waives required hours of service for haulers to get gas and diesel to the pumps.

Fuel experts say this is not a supply issue, rather a bottle-neck in the delivery process, caused by refineries switching over to the required summer blend, repairs being made on a pipeline, along with demand.

Under the disaster declaration, the Kansas Highway Patrol will not issue citations for truckers who exceed the 60-hour limit.
