KANSAS CITY - Ahead of multiple rounds of coming winter weather, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has declared a disaster emergency. The declaration allows for the use of resources to provide state assistance.
Meteorologists in the state have been warning residents to be prepared for back-to-back winter storms that could blanket the state with snow and ice, making travel treacherous and causing power outages.
A possible layer of ice and then snowfall of up to 9 inches is expected in spots Wednesday, followed by days of below zero wind chills. Another round of snow is expected this weekend and more could come next week as well.
