Missouri expected to move to next vaccination tier, include teachers

Kansas City, MO – Missouri appears to be ready to move on to the next phase of COVID vaccinations, according to Gov. Mike Parson who made the announcement Wednesday in Kansas City.

Parson was asked specifically when Missouri teachers will be allowed to receive the vaccine. He said, "you'll know that tomorrow (Thursday)."

"There will be a press briefing tomorrow," Parson says. "It's gonna be moved, I think everybody will be very pleased with the direction we're going and how we're gonna be able to move the teachers up. They'll be able to get a vaccination for sure."

Gov. Parson did not share any other details about the coming announcement.

Missouri is currently vaccinating those in "Phase 1B - Tiers 1 and 2," according to COVIDVaccine.MO.gov. Teachers are in the next group, "Phase 1B - Tier 3."

Also in the Tier 3 group are childcare faculty and staff, elected officials, grocery store workers, those who work in IT, transportation, communications and more. You can see the full eligibility list, here.

Parson is expected to speak at 3:15 p.m. Thursday.
