KANSAS CITY - Immigration advocates say ICE arrested up to 12 workers at two El Toro Loco restaurants in KCK and Lenexa on Wednesday.
The group "Advocates for Immigrant Rights and Reconciliation" called the raids discriminatory and inhumane. Protesters gathered outside one of the restaurants, with Kansas Representative Susan Ruiz among the speakers.
Ruiz condemned the raids as discriminatory, arguing the immigration system unfairly targets workers seeking a better life.
KMBC 9 News says ICE has not yet responded to requests for comment.
