Kansas City, MO – Ready, set... shop! Black Friday is this week and some people are not waiting to buy holiday gifts.
"Trying to get it done and over with before I have to deal with the large crowds," said Amy who was shopping at the Legends over the weekend.
Some at the Legends shopping district said Amy may be on the right track. Unlike last year, stores said they are expecting a lot of customers on Black Friday.
"I think last year, people were doing a Black Friday throughout the week, but it was not with extended hours and it was quiet," said Melissa, a manager at Demdaco.
This is the store's second Black Friday. Its first was during the height of the pandemic.
"I love this time of year because I get to see people who don't normally shop and I get to help them," added Melissa.
One person not so excited about Black Friday is Steve from North Kansas City. He was shopping with his wife at the Legends. Steve wasn't having that much fun, and had to carry everything.
"This is like all the years, it is overly commercialized," said Steve.
The Legends will be closed on Thanksgiving day. It will reopen for Black Friday at 9:00 a.m.
