Kansas City, MO – The boy fatally stabbed at Northeast Middle School in Kansas City has been identified as 14-year-old Manuel Guzman.

Shortly after the incident, Kansas City Public Schools superintendent Dr. Mark Bedell sent a letter home to parents informing them of the student's death:
"It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that our Northeast Middle School (NEMS) student has passed away from today's incident. At this time, we will wait for KCPD to release the student's name to allow the family some time to grieve privately. We will do everything we can to make sure we support the families who are involved in this tragedy through this difficult time.
Emergency responders were called to the school around 9AM Tuesday morning. A Kansas City police spokesperson said, some type of confrontation had taken place in a bathroom, resulting in the student being stabbed multiple times.
School was closed for the day, children were sent home. The district planned to resume classes on Wednesday.
