KANSAS CITY - A new security program began last night in the River Market with the hope of reducing crime in the area.
A new security firm has been hired to patrol the River Market overnight seven days a week, from 10pm to 6am.
The River Market Community Improvement District says not only will three security personnel patrol the streets, they’ll also be tasked with checking residential properties and parking garages.
Two of the personnel will be in marked vehicles and one will patrol on foot.
The district says there’s been a steady increase in car theft and burglaries and business break-ins, with most happening overnight.
