Kansas City, MO – Kansas Rep. Mark Samsel, 36, was arrested for misdemeanor battery for an incident with a high school student, while he was working as a substitute teacher for Wellsville USD 289 on Wednesday April 28th.

The Republican state lawmaker was recorded on video by high school students going on rants throughout the day, talking excitedly about lesbians, sex, suicide, masturbation, god and the Christian bible.

At one point, as seen in the videos, he focused his attention on a male student, grabbing him, and telling other students they have permission to kick him in the groin. According to reporting by the Kansas City Star, Samsel then allegedly knees the teen in the crotch, stands over him and asks "Did it hurt?"

The president of the Kansas Senate, Ty Masterson, on Sunday condemned Samsel's “deranged rantings”, and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas asked via Twitter, "What the hell is going on with the #KSLeg this session?" Samsel is the second Kansas lawmaker arrested this year.

Samsel was released from the county jail on a $1,000 bond. Charges are pending. Samsel has a first appearance scheduled for May 19 in district court.

The Wellsville school district superintendent said Samsel will no longer be allowed to work in the district.
