KANSAS CITY - Senate President Ty Masterson announced Monday that he has secured enough signatures to meet the 2/3’s majority required under the Kansas Constitution to petition for a special session on redistricting and other issues.

However, a 2/3’s approval from the House of Representatives is still needed to convene the special session, that if approved, could take place in early November.

Gov. Laura Kelly has voiced her opposition to the redistricting.
