KANSAS CITY - A Kansas man is accused of human trafficking in the case of his overseas wife in an arranged marriage.
Garden City Police responded to a woman pleading for help Friday morning. She was hospitalized due to visible injuries. She told investigators that she had been physically and sexually assaulted by the man. They learned she was part of an arraigned marriage and had been sent to the US in exchange for money.
A man, 44, has been charged on suspicion of rape, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated human trafficking, aggravated kidnapping, and criminal threat.
Police are still investigating, and formal charges are pending.
