KANSAS CITY – Chief Donna Lake announced she will retire at the end of January after serving 30 years with the Kansas City Fire Department.

Chief Lake was sworn in as chief in November 2019, and is the first woman to serve in the position.

In a statement, Lake said: “There are just no words to describe how proud I am of how much we’ve grown as a premier emergency medical and fire suppression service in this time. Each one of you has played a significant part in that. You made it easy for me to be Fire Chief."
