KANSAS CITY – It really does matter which gas station you go to when filling up the tank. And KC Metro residents have long known the stateline plays role, due to differing state gas taxes, and other factors.
Across the Metro, according to the latest GasBuddy survey of more than 700 gas stations in Kansas City, average gasoline prices have fallen nearly 3-cents in the last week, dropping to $2.68 per gallon.
That’s down nearly 50-cents from what drivers were paying in KC a year ago.
Despite the overall lower prices, there are wide swings depending on where you go. The cheapest station in the Metro was $2.47 per gallon, while the most expensive was $3.27 - a difference of .80 per gallon.
Statewide in Missouri the gap between the highest and lowest gas prices is even greater, with a difference of $1.22.
For those who use diesel, the national average has dropped 2.6 cents in the last week and now stands at $3.54 per gallon.
That is the lowest cost for diesel in more than three years.
