Kansas City, MO – The husk of an old van from the 1940's has found new life as a mobile bar, dispensing suds from beer taps.

Keith Lawrence and his family have started up Tap Truck KC, based in Olathe, KS. They've converted a 1946 Ford Talent Van they found in a California desert into a mobile bar, complete with five taps on the side.

"We chose not to the remove the bullet holes because it adds some flare to this unique machine,” said son Andrew Lawrence.

They've taken their 'tap truck' to a few parties, including one in their neighborhood to show off their special ride.

“This truck is just awesome. It has Bluetooth inside and it can do things you wouldn’t think a van from 1946 would be able to do,” said Keith.

Since the business is so new, asked Andrew if he is paid cash or in beer for his work, which includes the company’s social media page.

“I get both, but I prefer the beer,” said Andrew.

Keith plans to retire from his day job next year, and plans to turn this side hustle into his full time gig.

They're already looking to expand their fleet, purchasing a second vehicle they're currently retrofitting. So far, they only have a Kansas liquor license, and plan to get one in Missouri.
