KANSAS CITY – The family of Cameron Lamb will receive more than $4 million in a settlement with the Kansas City Police Department.
A judge this week approved the settlement, which includes language stating the agreement is not an admission of liability.
Lamb was shot and killed in 2019 by former police detective Eric DeValkenaere. DeValkenaere was convicted in the shooting but was released from prison in December 2024 after former Missouri Governor Mike Parson commuted his sentence.
Prosecutors said DeValkenaere acted recklessly when he shot Lamb. The defense claimed Lamb pointed a gun at DeValkenaere's partner.
