KANSAS CITY  - The last remaining drive-in movie theater in the Kansas City Metro will open for its 75th season this Saturday.

The celebration will include the opening of a time capsule, live music, hot rods and classic cars, and a couple of guest speakers on the big screen before the free showings of Grease and Raiders of the Lost Ark, said Brian Neal, owner of the Boulevard Drive-In Theatre.

More info can be found here.

The opening day will also feature a restored marquee, painted like an old school hot rod, which Neal will dedicate to his late grandfather.

First run movies at Boulevard Drive-In Theater, at 1051 Merriam Lane in Kansas City, Kansas, will start May 2nd and 3rd.

Boulevard is the last remaining drive-in after the Twin Drive-In Theatre in Independence, which had operated for nearly 60 years, closed permanently in November of 2024.
