
Kansas City, MO – There are many celebrations scheduled around the Kansas City Metro for Independence Day, and with good weather expected for the holiday weekend... it's going to be a blast!
Here's a list of the big firework shows and the smaller events all around the Metro this weekend - on both Saturday and on the 4th of July on Sunday. A big shoutout and thanks to our reporting partner KMBC for helping compile this list:
Berkeley Riverfront's KC Riverfest 2021
When: 3-11pm - Sunday, July 4.
What: Fireworks, food and drink.
The fireworks show to start sometime after 10pm
Credit cards not accepted and everything is cash-only.

Overland Park Star Spangled Spectacular
When: 9:45pm - Sunday, July 4
What: Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Fireworks start at 9:45pm
Due to COVID-19, no hosted entertainment, no food trucks leading up to the fireworks show.

National World War I Museum and Memorial: Stars and Stripes Picnic
When: Picnic from 3-6:30pm on Saturday July 3
Program beings at 6:30pm and lasts until 10pm - fireworks finish it off.

MISSOURI
18th & Vine Jazz and Fireworks
When: Saturday, July 3rd
Two favorite traditions—Kansas City jazz and Fourth of July fireworks—combine on July 3 at 18th & Vine. The evening begins with the annual induction ceremony at the American Jazz Walk of Fame, then continues with a free concert and fireworks show.
Blue Springs Presents: Red White & Blue Springs
When: 6:30-10 p.m. July 4.
What: Food trucks, vendors and live music leading up to fireworks display starting at 9:45 p.m.

Four on the Fourth at Ward Parkway
When: 7:30 am July 4.
What: Celebrate Independence Day by running or walking 4 miles along Ward Parkway. Where: The race starts and finishes at the Ward Parkway Pavilion

Greenwood Freedom Fest
When: 4-10 p.m. June 26.
What: Outdoor event with live music, local vendors, food trucks, rides and games, and a firework display that begins at 9:30 p.m.

Harrisonville 4th of July Celebration
When: Fireworks start at dusk.
What: Food trucks and citywide fireworks display

Higginsville’s celebration of Independence Day
When: 6 p.m. July 4 with fireworks starting at dusk.
What: The family fun and fireworks festivities will feature attractions for the entire family. Grab a lawn chair, blankets, family, friends and loved ones and meet at Fairground Park.

Kansas City Zoo presents Red White & Zoo
When: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 3 and July 4.
What: Have a blast this Independence Day at the Kansas City Zoo. Many of our animals will be receiving special patriotic enrichment to celebrate. Coloring sheets and crayons will be available in the lobby near our themed backdrop. Take your patriotic photo and post it on social media, tagging the Zoo in your post for your chance to win a KC Zoo themed prize pack.

Kearney Fireworks Celebration with Noe Palma
When: 5:30-10 p.m. July 2.
What: A concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Free inflatable air toys for the children to play in from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Free cotton candy at the amphitheater and playground.

Lathrop Fireworks Display
When: 9 p.m. July 4.
What: Citywide firework display.

Liberty Fest
When: 6-10:30 p.m. July 3.
What: City of Liberty and the Liberty Area Chamber of Commerce for Liberty Fest, an evening of family fun and fireworks. Live music from 8-10 p.m. and fireworks start at 10 p.m.

Moonlight Movie Night
When: 9-11 p.m. July 1.
What: Join your friends on Independence Square for a summer tradition. Come early to shop, grab dinner or take a walk visiting our public art or a historic plaque tour. This year’s movie is the classic "Independence Day." Grab your lawn chairs and blankets for a free, outdoor movie on the west side of the Pharaoh Cinema 4. The movie starts at dusk on Independence Square for a summer tradition.

Oak Grove Independence Day Celebration
When: 10 p.m. July 4.
What: Fireworks display from the highest point of Bent Oak Park.
Where: Bent Oak Park, 1300 Southeast 30th St., Oak Grove, MO 64075. Residents are encouraged to watch from their homes or somewhere around town.
Cost: Free.
Parkville 4th of July Celebration
When: 10 a.m.-10 p.m. July 4.
What: Parkville's traditional salute to Independence Day includes a pancake breakfast, a community parade, carnival rides, food, fun, shopping and a fireworks finale at 9:30 p.m.
Where: Starting at 63rd Street & Hwy 9, ending in Historic Downtown Parkville.
Cost: Free.
Platte City's Independence Day Fireworks
When: 10 p.m. July 4.
What: Citywide firework display. Stadium seating will not be available due to construction at the high school. Optional viewing locations include Hillcrest Thrift Store, Platte Valley Bank, MCPL Library, YMCA, Price Chopper, Platte County Middle School, Siegrist and Compass Elementary schools.

Raymore Spirit of America Fourth of July Celebration
When: 7-11 p.m. July 2.
What: Annual event with food trucks family activities live music and fireworks

Royals vs. Minnesota Twins at Kauffman Stadium
When: 7:15 p.m. July 2.

When: 7-10 p.m. July 4.
What: Fireworks on the water at Smithville Lake.

St. Joseph’s 4th of July Fireworks
When: 9:30 p.m. July 4.
What: Watch fireworks along the St. Joseph riverfront. Viewing is available in the parking lot of the Remington Nature Center and Heritage Park Sports Complex.

Sugar Creek 4th of July Fireworks Display
When: 9 p.m. July 4.
What: Citywide fireworks display. Participants are encouraged to bring their own chairs, blankets and snacks.

Weston July 4th Celebration
When: 9 a.m.-9:45 p.m. July 4.
What: Activities will start at 9 a.m. on Main Street with a parade. The street will be closed to traffic and parking from 8 a.m. until after fireworks around 10:45 p.m.
Where: 526 Main Street, Weston, Missouri, 64098. Fireworks will be visible from all around Weston.

KANSAS
Bonner Blast 2021
When: 8:30 July 1.
What: The City Band concert at 8:30 p.m., followed by an old-fashioned ice cream social. Fireworks display begins at 9:45 p.m.
Where: Kelly Murphy Park in Downtown Bonner Springs. Fireworks off K-7 and K-32
Cost: Free.
Edgerton 3rd of July
When: 6-9:45 p.m. July 3.
What: Annual community picnic at 6 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:45 p.m.

Celebrating the 4th at the Farm
When: 9 a.m.-noon July 4.
What: Families, kick off your Independence Day with old-fashioned games and activities, and participate in a bike parade at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead.

Fourth of July in Stilwell
When: 5-9:30 p.m. July 4.
What: Parade takes place at 6 p.m., grounds open at 7 p.m. and a firework display will take place at 9-9:30 p.m.

Gardner July 4th Celebration
When: 4-10 p.m. July 4.
What: Live music, food vendors, entertainment and firework show starting at 10 p.m.

Lansing’s Independence Day Celebration
When: 6-9:45 p.m. July 3.
What: The event begins with inflatable rides and food vendors. Blane Howard will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:45 p.m.
Where: Kenneth W. Bernard Community Park, located off 4-H Road on the west side of Lansing
Cost: Entry to the event is free and parking is free until 6 p.m. After that, parking will cost $1.
Leawood City Park July 4th Celebration
When: 6-9:30 p.m. July 4.
What: Food, entertainment, inflatables and slides.

Lenexa Community Porch Parade
When: July 1-4.
What: Celebrate our country’s independence by participating in Lenexa’s annual hometown tradition with a new twist! The Lenexa Community Days Porch Parade’s theme is “There’s no place like home.” Lenexa residents, businesses, churches and organizations are encouraged to participate. Porch Parade entries will receive a special Community Days Porch Parade yard sign.

1860’s Independence Day Celebration at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm
When: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 3.
What: Enjoy 1860's living history activities such as visiting the blacksmith shop and 1865 farmhouse and riding the stagecoach. A reading of the Declaration of Independence takes place at noon.
