
KANSAS CITY - A man is dead after a shooting in northeast Wichita Saturday evening.
It happened just after 9:30 p.m. near 22nd and Hillside. Officers in the area heard gunshots and found the victim, 36-year-old Jesus Aguilera, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital where he died about an hour later.
Just after 9 a.m. Sunday, Wichita Police warned residents to avoid the area in the 800 block of South Longfellow, near Lincoln and Rock Road. A person barricaded themselves in a home and Police say the standoff was related to the shooting.
Meanwhile, the Sedgwick County Sheriff's office says a 22-year-old woman and a dog were injured in an apparent drive-by shooting in the Oaklawn area Saturday afternoon.
Deputies responded to the 3400 block of E. Sunview around 12:40 p.m. and found the woman suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. She was transported to a Wichita hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A dog inside the residence was also struck by gunfire and was taken to a veterinary clinic for treatment.
