February 25th marked a decade since the mass shooting in Hesston at Excel Industries.

Three people were killed and 14 others injured in a series of shootings in Newton and Hesston, with 89 gunshots fired by the shooter, a painter for Excel, who had an extensive criminal history; he was killed by a responding police officer.

A public memorial service was held Wednesday afternoon at the Memorial Trees on Commerce Drive in Hesston.

There was also a documentary video posted on the Hesston Public Library’s website after the memorial service.

An autopsy on the shooter's body indicated high levels of methamphetamine and alcohol in his system; he had "more than 135 times the standard dose" of meth at the time of his death.
