KANSAS CITY - Mayor Quinton Lucas joined Kansas City’s Morning News today, where he talked about the suspension of City Manager Brian Platt.
Platt was suspended with pay last week after a jury awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars to the city’s former communications director, Chris Hernandez. Hernandez had filed a lawsuit, claiming that Platt suggested lying to the media and then retaliated against him for his opposition to that idea.
An attorney for Platt claims the mayor was complicit, but Lucas says that is not true.
You can listen to the entire conversation here:
What will happen with Platt remains undecided with a City Council discussion planned for later this month. Platt could resign, be fired or have the suspension lifted and continue in his role.
