KANSAS CITY - A Kansas City man living in an eastside homeless camp has been indicted on meth and gun charges.

Ricky Lee Myers, 62, has been living in a one-room shack in the middle of a homeless camp along East 23rd Street, near the Paseo and 71 Highway, where he’s known as "The Mayor.”

Myers has now been indicted by a federal grand jury for possessing meth and a gun near a school. The camp is just a block away from the Lincoln College Prep middle school.

According to an affidavit, federal agents served a search warrant on the shack last month, finding the meth and gun, and arresting Myers.

Authorities say Myers has a prior felony conviction making it illegal for him to have a gun.
