Wichita Mayor urges support for grieving families and friends

Lily Wu
City of Wichita

KANSAS CITY - Mayor Lily Wu urges Wichitans to support each other after the crash of a Wichita flight in Washington, D.C. last week killing all 67 people aboard the American Airlines plane and an Army helicopter. Wu says many Wichitans knew someone killed in the crash. She says, "we are reminded of the fragility of life," and "we're all connected in some way." Wu says the City of Wichita and others have created a web site to support the victims' families at Ict-Together.org. She says within hours the site had collected "six figures."

At Tuesday's meeting, the Wichita City Council will discuss negotiating fees for leases owned by the City in Old Town. Mayor Wu tells KNSS News she would like to learn more about leases in general, about fees they are normally charged per square foot.

Wu commented during Mondays with the Mayor on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
