KANSAS CITY – The FBI put out the word earlier this month that a missing 8-year-old boy may have passed through Kansas City. Now the boy, missing for eight months, has been found in southwestern Missouri.

Last June, detectives in Vancouver, Wash. conducted a welfare check after getting reports of a possible missing child. They were unable to find Breadson John and reported him missing.

The FBI says Breadson was found safely last week in Jasper County, Missouri. They say they've determined that the child was brought to Missouri in August of last year, not long after he was reported missing. But the agency has not provided further details in the case.

“Breadson’s recovery would not have been possible without the combined efforts of the Vancouver Police Department, FBI Kansas City, and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office,” the Seattle FBI’s Special Agent in Charge Richard A. Collodi said in a statement. “We are relieved at this outcome and how quickly we were able to resolve it.”

The child was placed with Missouri's Department of Social Services after being recovered, and agents of the Washington Child Protective Services came to Missouri to escort him home.
