Missouri farmer, TV "reality star", guilty of multi-million dollar fraud scheme

KANSAS CITY - A guilty plea could put a Missouri farmer behind bars for 30 years.

Steve McBee, 52, owns McBee Farming Operations. was accused of submitting fraudulent documents to the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation insuring his land. The fraud included misrepresenting and underreporting the number of bushels sold by McBee between 2018 and 2020.

That fraud totaled more than 820,000 unreported bushels of corn and soybeans that were sold in the 2 year span, totalling more than 3.2 million in fraudulent insurance payouts to the company.

This week, he pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of federal crop insurance fraud.

McBee is one of the stars of the "reality TV" show featuring his farm called “The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys.”
