KANSAS CITY – Missouri had the fourth lowest cost of living in the United States for the first quarter in 2025.
For metropolitan areas in the state, Joplin had the lowest cost of living, moving higher in St. Louis, then Kansas City and then the highest in Columbia.
In Kansas, the cost of living in Q1 was the 7th lowest in the US.
In general, the most expensive areas to live were Hawaii, Alaska, the Northeast, and the West Coast.
The least expensive areas were Midwest and Southern states.
