KANSAS CITY – A juvenile has been charged with murder by the Jackson County prosecutor for the shooting death late Wednesday afternoon of Kansas City restaurant owner Shaun Brady, 44.
A GoFundMe has now been organized by the Kansas City Irish Fest to support Brady's family.
Brady, owner of Brady's KC (Brady and Fox), was taking out the trash and encountered a group of people around a car. KCPD says when Brady confronted them, he was then shot to death.
Brady's death, coming just two days before Irish Fest opened, sent a shockwave through Kansas City's historic Irish community.
Brady hailed from Ireland himself, and was a well-known chef, restaurateur and pub owner in Kansas City.
"Shaun was the head chef and creator of the Kansas City Irish Breakfast, a joyful tradition following our Catholic Mass the Sunday of the festival weekend. Although Kansas City Irish Fest will take place this weekend, we have decided to cancel the Irish Breakfast to give those who knew and loved Shaun a chance to gather and remember him," organizers said in a statement.
Organizers said a big tradition of the Irish fest each year is the Kansas City Irish Breakfast on Sunday during the festival weekend. Brady created the breakfast and also served as head chef.
