Missouri murder suspect takes own life following standoff in Festus

FESTUS, MO - (KMOX) - Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak says a murder suspect is dead after taking his own life in a Festus hotel.

69-year old Bill Mormon was found dead this (Sunday) morning following a standoff with police that lasted several hours. Sheriff Marshak says Mormon shot, stabbed, and killed 46-year old Marijon Ludwig Saturday afternoon in a home in the 26-hundred block of Winding Valley Drive in Fenton. Mormon and Ludwig knew each other, but their relationship is unclear.

Guests were evacuated from the Festus Holiday In Express and were taken the Festus C-6 School District for safety. Mormon's body was found with the use of a drone.

Marshak says Mormon had served time for in Minnesota for a previous murder.
