Kansas City, MO – Severe thunderstorms rolled through the Kansas City Metro on Monday evening, spawning at least one brief tornado touchdown in southern Johnson County that damaged homes, downed fences and tree limbs.

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Missouri said on Tuesday its survey crew measured the tornado to be an EF-0, with a maximum wind speed of 85mph with a path width of 100 yards.

The Johnson County, emergency managers said about 20 homes had roofing and siding damage. Homeowners reported minor structural damage and other debris on the ground.

KMBC-TV spoke to residents who were under the twister. "I could hear the hail in the downstairs window, and then I felt the whole porch move. The attic (on the back side), I think is completely torn off," said Rita McGee, whose home took much of the damage in the 191st and Antioch neighborhood.
