Legendary music producer Quincy Jones has died at age 91

'We celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him'

KANSAS CITY - Fans across Kansas City and around the world are mourning the loss of music legend Quincy Jones, who has "passed away peacefully" at the age of 91. He was surrounded by friends and family at the time. No cause of death has been provided,

Reporter Deborah Rodriguez with CBS News shared this music-filled report during Kansas City's Morning News:

Jones, whose unmistakable mark has been left across the musical landscape after working with the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Jacob Collier, and tons of others -- was an entertainment industry icon and earned a whopping 80 GRAMMY Award nominations over his storied career.

“Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing,” Jones' family said in a statement after his passing on Sunday night, November 3. “And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.”

Jones, a Chicago native, was the recipient of 28 GRAMMY Awards, two honorary Academy Awards -- Quincy was set to receive an honorary Oscar later this month -- and an Emmy for Roots. Jones also received France’s Legion d’Honneur, Italy's Rudolph Valentino Award, and a Kennedy Center honor for his contributions to American culture. He leaves behind seven children, Kidada Jones, Rashida Jones, Jolie Jones Levine, Rachel Jones, Martina Jones, Quincy Jones III, and Kenya Kinski-Jones.
