KANSAS CITY - Sedgwick County, Kansas, will apply for two grants from the state of Kansas to respond to mental health crises.
The first grant application totals nearly $9.5 million and would assist efforts at COMCARE's Community Crisis Center. The second grant totals around $1.4 million and would serve the county's mobile crisis response team.
Chairman Ryan Baty says the investments in COMCARE and technology has transformed the community's response to mental health issues.
Each grant application is due by this Friday. The county will be notified by April 1 what amount, if any, they will receive.
