KANSAS CITY - As you load up your plate for your Thanksgiving feast, you may want to give a little bit to the begging eyes under the table, but veterinarians say "not so fast!"
A report from the American Kennel Club says vet visits tend to increase during the holidays and a major driver of that is due to foods that are bad for your pets, some even deadly.
Foods that are safe for your dogs include things like turkey meat, sweet potatoes and pumpkin.
The list of foods that are dangerous for them is much longer. The AKC says avoid giving them bones, sweets, alcohol or any foods that are high in fat. That includes things like stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, casseroles, chocolates, cookies, cakes and pies, raisins and grapes, and anything with spices.

Foods that are sugar-free or low-sugar and include the sweetener Xylitol (also known as birch sugar or wood sugar) should also never be given, as it can cause a life-threatening drop in a dog's blood sugar, which can lead to seizures, liver failure, and death.
