KANSAS CITY - St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann is reconsidering whether to run for reelection. He first announced his plans not to run for a sixth term in the summer of 2023.
When KMOX initially asked him directly, he hesitated.
"You very well may think that but I couldn't possibly comment."
However, Ehlmann eventually did comment.
"I've had a lot of people asking me to reconsider. That's what I'm doing right now, I'm reconsidering."
Ehlmann declined to elaborate on why he was having second thoughts on running again.
Bill Eigel, Mike Elam and Jason Law have already filed campaign committees to replace Ehlmann as County Executive. The primary election is in August of 2026.
