Kansas City, MO – The Chiefs head to the playoffs next week, and stores like Rally House at 97th and Quivira Road are preparing for a new base of fans to come in and buy gear.

A recent study said Chiefs fans spend roughly $170 on gear every year.  And the dollar amount usually goes up when the team is in the playoffs.

"This is the time of year we usually see the bandwagon fans come in and buy stuff," said Chelsea Pletkee, the store manager.

When asked, Pletkee said if you are a first time buyer or just looking to update your wardrobe, you should always be sure to pick something that has Quarterback Patrick Mahomes name on it.

"You have to have it," she said. "He is doing so many great things for this city including investing in other sports teams."

But there are some stars you will not be able to find.  Those include Kicker Harrison Butker and Lineman Creed Humphry.   Pletkee said the store is not able to get those shirts because the demand is not exactly there.

She did say the store has ordered four times its normal merchandise so they should not run out of stock.

And sadly, there will be no discounts available if the Chiefs lose in the playoffs.

"All of this stuff is good for next year. Nothing will expire, so we'll just shift the store around and bring the in-season team up front," said Pletkee.
