KANSAS CITY - An Augusta woman has been arrested on two counts of second-degree murder in connection to a crash that killed two women Saturday night.
At 9:35 p.m., Wichita Police were called to a three-vehicle crash at Central and Webb. A truck driven by an 80-year-old Augusta woman was eastbound on Central when it collided with two southbound vehicles.
Lashea Bell, 42, and her daughter, Aniah Bell, 25, were in one of those cars. Lashea was pronounced dead at the scene, while Aniah died later at a local hospital.
Once the 80-year-old woman was medically cleared, she was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on two counts of second-degree murder. Records identified the suspect as Clowie McLaughlin.
Police believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors to the crash.
The driver of the third vehicle involved in the crash was treated at the scene and released.
