KANSAS CITY – A major I-70 road project gets underway soon on the east side of the city.
The “Improve I-70 KC” project is focused on a five-mile stretch of the interstate from The Paseo to the 31st St./US 40 interchange.
MoDOT says this section of I-70 was built in the 1960’s and carries up to 120-thousand vehicles a day, so over the next three years, they will be repairing or replacing 12 interchanges and 26 bridges in this stretch.
The $237-million project kicks off next week and MpDOT expects the entire project to be finished in the spring of 2028.
