
KANSAS CITY - Two people are dead and another hospitalized after a one car crash in Kansas City just after 3:00 this morning.
Police say a Honda SUV was traveling too fast for the snow-covered road conditions on I-435 near 103rd Street when it ran off the road, went over a snowbank and vaulted off the bridge. The vehicle fell about 100 feet down, landing in the Blue River.
The driver and one passenger were both declared dead at the scene. Another passenger was taken to the hospital, and is currently listed in critical condition.
The victims have not yet been identified.
After the crash, two lanes of westbound I-435 were closed to traffic as recovery efforts of the Honda and the deceased subjects were being made.
These are the first two car crash fatalities of the year in Kansas City. The investigation is ongoing.
