KANSAS CITY – Police have arrested two Venezuelan nationals in connection with an ATM skimming theft ring that spanned several cities in both Missouri and Kansas.
Darwin G. Moreno-Conde, 24, and Yorbin Y. Allen-Hernandez, 44, were apprehended following a search from Kansas City to St. Louis. The pair were arrested in Richmond, Missouri in Ray County, just east of the KC Metro.
The arrests stemmed from an investigation into a skimming device placed on a local ATM on Nov. 13 that compromised numerous accounts.
Surveillance footage captured a gray Ford Fusion linked to the placement and retrieval of the skimmer.
License plate tracking and Flock cameras traced the suspect vehicle’s movements around the Kansas City Metro and St. Louis.
Court documents indicate that evidence tied the suspects to skimming incidents in multiple locations, including Blue Springs, Liberty, Lee’s Summit, Raymore, and Edwardsville, Kansas.
Hernandez was ordered removed in absentia by a Michigan immigration judge, court documents show.
