KANSAS CITY – It's hard to make your way down a street without seeing political signs in yards and at street corners. Jayme and Jon from Midday asked: What's the point in stealing them?
In Springfield, Missouri, one couple had their signs stolen multiple times, so they put an Apple AirTag on the next one they put out and then tracked it down to a nearby town, where they found the alleged thief and some 60 campaign signs in his car trunk.
Putting out signs is an election year tradition for many, but in recent years, there's been an increase in the number of political signs stolen or vandalized. That is happening across the country, including Missouri where stealing signs in the Show Me State could land you a $2,500 fine or a year in jail.
