KANSAS CITY - The owners of Westport Ale House are dropping hints that the business could reopen.

An Instagram post claims the bar is making a comeback after being shut down since April 9th. The Ale House account has posted about actively recruiting staff, including servers and line cooks.

Some violent incidents have happened at the bar, including a mass shooting two years ago that left one person dead and six hurt. That history has some in the neighborhood opposed to the reopening, while others are in favor of the Ale House again welcoming customers.

The bar had been open about 10 years before it closed in the spring, with the owners saying they were closing due to the numerous inflationary increases from food and beverage costs, insurance and rent, which made operations unsustainable.
