Even after being unable to watch the New York Mets home opener Thursday, Noah Syndergaard remains in good spirits.
As the 28-year-old continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery, he's flexed his Twitter prowess. The latest example came Friday afternoon, when Richard Staff of Amazin' Avenue joked that now that he's received the COVID-19 vaccine, one of the only things that could hurt him are tweets from Syndergaard. On cue, Syndergaard roasted Staff:
Without Syndergaard, the Mets are off to a 2-2 start. The Mets are hopeful that Syndergaard - who underwent Tommy John surgery in March of 2020 - can return to their rotation in June. They are without both Syndergaard and Carlos Carrasco to open the season, but if those two eventually join a starting rotation that also includes Jacob deGrom and Marcus Stroman, the Mets could become a legitimate threat to win a crowded National League East.
In 119 career games, Syndergaard has a 3.31 ERA and 2.92 FIP, and you get the sense that we haven't yet seen the best of the man affectionally referred to as "Thor."
