When life throws a fishing hook at you, and you catch it, sometimes it's best to look on the bright side.

During a recent fishing trip with his guitar tech Russ, Country singer Luke Bryan had a little mishap with a three-pronged hook that made the pair take a detour to the hospital to have it removed. Luke shared his experience in a series of Instagram Live videos and a recap post that, for some, may be a little too much to watch. (You've been warned.)

Luke's videos of the incident showed his travels from the lake, to the hospital room, and finally back on the lake gettin' more fishin' in after a technician kindly removed the hook for him. His recap post was the most unsettling, showing two out of three of the barbs embedded deep into his thumb, with the simple caption "Dammit."

"Well, this is gonna leave a mark," he said while showing a close-up of the injury. Zooming in he says, "Pretty sure that's in my bone." Ouch... but still, better it was two barbs rather than all three, right?

"I can only exercise and re-line fishing poles for so long," Luke told Audacy's Katie Neal recently, thinking back on the extended time at home he's been facing along with the rest of us during the pandemic. Promoting his upcoming Born Here Live Here Die Here deluxe album release set for April 9 and a brand new season of American Idol "feels like work," he said. "It's fun!"

We're just hoping this latest mishap (two weeks ago Luke filmed himself crashing on the ski slopes while filming his son) has no future effects on his guitar playing, and he tries to be a bit more careful while enjoying the outdoors.
