In this particular case we’re talking about those Stylers our there, aka fans of Harry Styles which took to Twitter in a frenzy when never before pics of Harry dressed as a mermaid surfaced. And can you blame them, he looks fierce.

The unused photographs of Styles, rocking a mermaid tail, a red wig and a seashell bra were taken as part of his 2019 Saturday Night Live promotional shoot. And although his version includes a flute of champagne and unlit cigarette, it’s an obvious ode to Disney's Little Mermaid character, Ariel.

Since the discovery of these images, legions of the heartthrob's fans have flooded Twitter, fawning over the photos with 280 characters or less, so much so, it even lead Ariel to trend.

As one fan pointed out, we shouldn’t be surprised, as Harry straight up told us he was a mermaid back in 2014. When he revealed his latest tattoo — a mermaid on his left forearm. At the time when asked about the reason behind the ink, Styles answer was simple — "I am a mermaid.”

Incidentally, Styles was also in talks to play Prince Eric in the The Little Mermaid live-action movie. However, he turned down the role, with the intent of focusing more on his music. “I want to put music out and focus on that for a while,” he said in an interview with The Face Magazine. Regardless of his blatant disrespect to our desperate wish to see play a Disney prince, with the line-up of stars involved, the live-action adaptation is sure to not disappoint and Harry seems to agree. Starring Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, with Jacob Tremblay voicing Flounder and Awkwafina voicing Scuttle. As Harry also noted, “Everyone involved in it was amazing," he added. "So I think it’s going to be great.”

Still, as it often does, Twitter had an interesting idea as to another reason why Harry turned down the role, suggesting that maybe Styles was after the lead role of the princess instead. “So that’s why harry turned down the role of prince eric, he wanted to be ariel all along,” one fan quipped.

"Sources say that Harry Styles will be playing the role of Ariel in the upcoming Disney movie 'The Little Mermaid,'" joked another.

No stranger to androgynous fashion choices, this isn’t the first and it won’t be the last time we see Harry blur the lines… as he should.

So as expected, however still annoying nonetheless there were haters, and while we won’t be showing any of those hateful comments, we will show tweets of loving fans coming to his defense.

But as Harry previously told Vogue, “there's so much joy to be had in playing with clothes, I've never thought too much about what it means—it just becomes this extended part of creating something.” K, we’ll just be over here, adding these pics to the mental vault of things we’re obsessed with.
