Marcus Stroman was none too pleased with the decision to start Sunday’s Mets game against the Marlins amid heavy rainfall.

The Mets pitcher, who started Sunday’s game, sounded off on Twitter 36 minutes into the delay — which was already long enough where he would not come back out on the mound.

“This game should have never been started,” he tweeted. “Not smart at all. Those conditions put everyone at risk. Beyond happy no players on either side were injured. Hate that I have to wait another five days to pitch again. That’s a miserable feeling.”

There was light rain falling at Citi Field just before first pitch but as Stroman took the mound it began to steadily pick up.

The right-hander allowed a single and recorded an out when he was facing Jesus Aguilar, who kept drying his bat off as the rain came down. Finally, seven minutes after the game had started, the umpires called for the groundscrew to put the tarp on the field.

The game was officially suspended nearly two hours later and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Stroman threw nine total pitches and will now have to likely wait until Friday when the Mets travel to Colorado to face the Rockies to make his next start.

In a follow-up tweet, after Stroman was mischaracterized as ripping his team for letting him start the game, the pitcher reiterated the conditions were not safe to play and the game should have been called before they took the field.
