Matthew Stafford's decade-plus run as the quarterback of the Detroit Lions could be all but over as soon as this week.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell has reportedly suggested trade talks around Stafford are intensifying.

Campbell, in an interview with the Detroit Free Press, said discussions regarding Stafford have become "hot and heavy."

The report comports with recent reporting from top NFL insiders, including ESPN's Adam Schefter, who said during a Friday appearance on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast that there's a growing sense that a Stafford trade will be in place before the Super Bowl on Feb. 7.

Such a trade deal could be agreed upon at any time, though it couldn't go official until March at the official start of the offseason, Pro Football Talk reported.

The Lions and Stafford have already agreed to part ways, according to PFT, though it remains to be seen where he'll end up and what the Lions will receive in return. Reports have indicated Detroit wants a first-round pick in return for the Georgia product, drafted first overall in 2009.

Stafford, a native of Texas, turns 33 next month.
