OJ Simpson's estate has agreed to pay Fred Goldman nearly $58 million dollars to settle a claim in the death of Goldman's son Ron.
As you may remember, OJ's ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman were brutally stabbed to death outside her house in Los Angeles in 1994. OJ Simpson was acquitted of murder in a criminal trial considered a trial of the century, but he was found liable for their deaths in a civil trial.
Fred Goldman filed a civil claim in 2024, originally seeking $117 million in damages. It's unclear whether Simpson's estate has the resources to fully satisfy the claim, but he died before it was paid out.
NBC News reported Malcolm LaVergne, Simpson's estate executor, agreed to pay Goldman, but said the original amount did "not appear to be as accurate as possible based on simple judgment interest calculations."
Ron Goldman grew up in Buffalo Grove, outside Chicago, and attended Stevenson High School. He was a young waiter at a restaurant Nicole Brown and her family frequented and was returning a pair of glasses they'd accidentally left behind when investigators believe he stumbled onto the scene where Nicole Brown was being attacked, and was stabbed to death.
