Police arrive to 'disturbance' call, find woman dead in trunk of car

An Arizona man was arrested on Monday night after police discovered the body of a woman in the trunk of a car in Huntington Beach, police shared.

The Huntington Beach Police Department responded to reports of a family disturbance at around 5:15 p.m. on Monday, according to a press release.

When officers arrived to investigate the reported disturbance, they quickly discovered the body of a deceased woman in the trunk of a car.

The discovery launched an investigation into the woman’s death, which officers believed to be “under suspicious circumstances.”

After partnering with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department - Coroner Division and Crime Lab officials were able to identify and arrest Richard Paul Rodriguez, 34, of Holbrook, Arizona.

The victim, 54-year-old Christi Lynn Romero, was identified by police in Arizona.

The investigation into Romero’s death and Rodriguez’s alleged involvement remains ongoing at this point. No further information has been provided.
