“I think it’s really natural to always be having these boundary negotiations,” said academic and broadcaster Dr. Aleks Krotoski, who joined the show to provide expert insight.
Host Lauren Barry is also joined by: Susan Messing, a young baby boomer, improv comedian and teacher; Gen X news anchor Steve Chiotakis; millennial multimedia producer Mallory Somera and Gloria Oladipo, a Gen Z reporter and playwright. David and John, known on social media as the Debt Free Guys, also joined the show to offer expert insight.
“I’ve managed to find a lot of people and make them sort of my chosen family,” said Chiotakis.
Messing said “I have a great family, but my friends are absolutely my family.”
“My family is really big, but I also grew up an only child until I was 15,” said Somera, a producer of KCBS Radio.
Oladipo, who lives and works in New York City, revealed that “people who are like born and bred here… have immediate family, like a train ride away,” but many rely on community to become their family.
