Touché, Noel Gallagher.
During the Foo Fighters’ set at the Reading Festival last weekend, band members Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins earnestly urged the crowd to get a petition together in the slim hopes of reuniting Oasis. Hawkins also had a picture of the Gallagher brothers on his kick drum.
Word of the movement spread to Noel himself, who responded in a way Grohl and Hawkins were probably not expecting. During a show in San Diego, Noel asked the crowd if there were any Oasis fans in the house before joking: "Is anyone gonna sign that petition Dave Grohl wants to get together to get us back together.
I'd like to start a petition to get the Foo Fighters to split up.” See the video on reddit here.
There’s no chance of that happening, of course. Hawkins recently revealed that a new album could be coming as soon as 2020.
It also goes without saying that an Oasis reunion isn’t happening anytime soon, but Noel doesn’t seem to have a problem with efforts to bring their music to Broadway.
Oasis also released a new lyric video this week for “Fade Away” in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Definitely Maybe.
